Strong support for online betting limits and curbs on promotion of gambling

Survation’s latest tracker poll for the Clean Up Gambling campaign continues to show strong public support for curbs on online gambling and the promotion of the industry in football and to people under 18 years old.

77% of the public agree that children under 18 years old shouldn’t be exposed to gambling adverts, with 6% disagreeing.

73% believe there should be restrictions on how much money can be placed into online accounts, 9% disagree.

However, there isn’t majority support for a total ban on online gambling, with 33% supporting a ban, and 41% not supporting a ban.

A total ban on all gambling advertising and sponsorship is supported by 50%, with 21% disagreeing.

66% agreed with the question that there is enough money football so that no clubs should need to rely on gambling sponsorship. 10% disagreed.

 

Survation polled 1,033 people aged 18+ living in the UK. Fieldwork was conducted via online panel on 12th-13th January 2021.
